Community/School Go Outreach Program

The Canadian Go Association (CGA) and the American Go Association (AGA) both offer free Go equipment to nonprofit Go clubs, including school-based Go clubs. If you’re interested in starting a Go club at your school, or organizing a Go activity at your school or local library, please reach out to us. We can also help connect you with experienced Go instructors.

A recent example is Sarah Yu’s Go outreach in Camrose, Alberta, where the local school board (Battle River School Division) accepted a donation of Go sets. They’ve shown strong interest in introducing the game of Go to their students. Although their media release did not mention CGA, we have informed them that the Go sets were generously provided by the Canadian Go Association. Thank you to CGA for your support!

Sarah Yu, a professional-level amateur 6-dan Go player, is actively involved in promoting Go through her tea house Go & Tea in Camrose, which doubles as a community Go space. In addition to teaching Go to adults, she has been working with local schools and families to bring Go into educational settings, helping kids discover the game in a fun and engaging environment.
